The basic principles and laws of a nation, state, or social group that determine the powers and duties of the government and guarantee certain rights to the people in it.
Purpose
- Creates a national government consisting of a legislative, exculative and judicial branch
- Limit the government's power through the inclusion of safeguards and procedures that must be followed before certain powers can be exercised
- Protect minority interests
