• Wanted GR navy to be weak as its own position of naval superiority was previously threatened by GR naval armaments
• Lloyd George wanted GR to be able to recovery economically
  • Prevent the rise of communism

France

• Hoped to reclaim Alsace–Lorraine, which was lost to GR in 1871
• Wanted GR to pay heavy reparations
• Wanted GR to accept total blame for the war
• Wanted revenge for war and compensation for its war losses

USA

• Wilson wanted to establish his Fourteen Points as a basis for lasting peace and international cooperation
• The people wanted to keep USA out of future foreign entanglements
