• Had some political achievements in resolving some conflicts
  • 1921 conflict between Finland & Sweden (Aaland Islands)
  • Yugoslavia withdrew from Albania
  • Greece withdrew from Bulgaria

Met aims of LON -> allowed & achieved peace

• Social issues addressed
• Effective in Dealing with Social Issues
  • Refugees issue solved
  • Reduced spread of diseases through vaccination
  • Improved working conditions through International Labour Organisation (ILO)

Failures

• Disarmament failed
  • Did not trust LON for security & peace
    • Atmosphere of distrust and tension
  • Countries continue to acquire arms for protection
  • Did not involve everyone
  • No measures to ensure it is carried out

Mostly unsuccessful - BR + FR too focused on national interests

• Inability to resolve conflicts
  • Preoccupied with individual interests
  • Not willing to impose harsh measures if it threatened their own interests
  • No army made it difficult to get errant countries to cooperate
