Focusing on a near object

  1. Light rays from a near object enter the eye as diverging rays to fall on the Retina
  2. The retina sends impulses to the brain, which sends impulses to the ciliary muscles
  3. Ciliary muscles contract, causing the Suspensory Ligament to become slack
  4. Suspensory Ligament relax their pull on the Lens
  5. Lens becomes thicker and rounded, causing more refraction of the rays of light
